If you’ve never been to TURNER’S BEACH RESTAURANT, you’re missing out on the story of a woman who took her dreams from a table on the beach to a restaurant in the sand. Carolyn Turner loves to cook. She was working as a family life educator back in December 1984 when she set up her “one table and four chairs” with barbeque grill and coal pot on the beach in Johnson’s Point.

Customers flocked to her seafood and local dishes by land and sea, and today some of these offerings are staples on her menu. The demand led the business to grow, and Mrs. Turner bought a few more chairs and tables at first, and decided to set up a small restaurant on the family-owned land.She’s always coming up with new ideas and tries the dishes out on her staff before adding it to the menu. “The Turner’s Touch” as she puts it, sets her grilled lobster, fish cakes, seafood salad and baby back ribs apart from the rest.

Turner’s is just one of the many restaurants dotting the coastline in that area. So what sets it apart? “Home cooked food,” and a very supportive and hard working staff.The secret to her continued success? “I honestly don’t know,” the owner responds. I guess as they say in Antigua, “She hand just sweet.”

Weddings and parties on the beach have become a regular thing at Turner’s. Younger couples are breaking from tradition, while the older ones are reciting their vows in church before heading to the post-ceremony festival on the sand.
