Let’s face it: You don’t have time to hit all 365 of Antigua’s beautiful white sand beaches. So we have compiled the top five of the very best beaches just for you. Whether you are looking for the best beach bar, or the whitest sand, these beaches are the cream of the crop. If you only have time to hit a few beaches, make sure it’s one of these!
1. Darkwood BeachDarkwood has been chosen as our number one beach because of its sheer beauty. Located on the Southwestern side of the island, this breathtaking beach boasts powdery white sand, translucent blue waters, and on a clear day views of neighboring islands such as Montseraat. Darkwood’s beach bar offers delicious lunch and drinks at reasonable prices.
2. Half Moon BayLocated on the Eastern side of the ocean, the turbulent and impressive Half Moon Bay comes in at number two. This beach is swept by waves from the Atlantic Ocean, making for one of Antigua’s most magnificent beaches. Though a little out of the way, this beach is worth the drive. This long, half moon shaped beach is home to soft, pale pink sand and sapphire blue waters. This beach is perfect if you want to catch some waves on your weekend vacation, or take stunning pictures of one of Antigua's most beautiful views.
3. Dickenson BayProbably the island’s most popular beach, Dickenson Bay is where the action is. Located in the Northwestern portion of the island, Dickenson Bay boasts 2 fantastic beach bars and restaurants. Coconut Grove Restaurant and Bar offers the best pina coladas on the island and authentic Caribbean and seafood cuisine, and The Beach delivers refreshing mojitos and an eclectic menu of Caribbean dishes and American favorites. Further down the beach is Tony’s Water Sports, where you can do everything from jetskiing to wakeboarding. During Sailing Week, this beach is home to some of the hottest beach parties, accompanied by some of Antigua’s best sunsets.
4. Pigeon BeachLocated in English Harbour in the southern tip of the island, this tucked away beach is one primarily known to the residents of Antigua. This secluded and shady beach is playground for the family, with gentle waves, golden sand, picnic tables, and a fantastic pier for practicing the perfect dive. Bumpkins Restaurant is an island favorite, with light uncomplicated delights, from burgers to grilled lobster. Try the Banana Pina Colada!
5. Jabberwock BeachFor wind and kite surfing, Jabberwock Beach is the where you want to be. This long strip of picturesque beach located on the northwestern edge of Antigua is a favorite for local picnics and barbeques, with a public hammock that’s perfect for snuggling couples. With soft white sands and turquoise waters, Jabberwock is ideal for a game of Frisbee, cricket, or football.
