The stunning 11 mile beach on Barbudas West Coast

Barbuda is one of those very few islands that remains; and probably will for some time, so undeveloped as to seem positively deserted at times. Barbuda has the deep blue Atlantic on one side with wild beaches full of driftwood and shells and on the other the calm Caribbean Sea.

With the exception of the guests of the island's small number of accommodations, the population seems largely to consist of monogomaous graceful Frigate bird couples. As the birds possess a marked preference for the northwest lagoon, Barbuda's seemingly endless white and pink sand beaches are left to the peaceful wanderings of those lucky enough to sojourn here.

Barbuda is not for visitors who are looking for action, it is a place where you relax, slow down and make your own entertainment. Activities on Barbuda include beachcombing, fishing and hunting, snorkeling, diving, or simply soaking up the sun and the calm. .

Barbuda, 15 miles long and 8 miles wide, is mostly rocky and very flat and.much of the island is covered in low lying shrubs. Points of interest include the caves, several colonial era ruins, the truly stunning pink and white sand beaches, and an abundance of shipwrecks and beautiful reefs and the magnificent Frigate Bird colony of approximately 2000 birds, one of the largest colonies in the world. Barbuda’s indigenous population of roughly 1500 souls lives in the village of Codrington. There are only four hotels on the island; the luxurious K Club; the membership only very private Coco Point Lodge; the secluded North Beach; and Hotel Palmetto resorts. There are also several small guest houses in the village, ranging from single rooms to self-catering cottages.

Village life is largely unaffected by tourism and if you are a guest here you will soon be part of the social life of the local people. Barbudans are helpful and friendly people and will welcome you to their island.
